Hydraulic Flow Restrictors

KBOH / BoltOnHooks LLC now carries an extensive line of inline Hydraulic Flow Restrictors, many are custom made in-house and ONLY available through us. We are now carrying various sizes and styles in these thread types:

Hydraulic Flow Restrictor FAQ’s:

  1. Do I need one or two restrictors on each function? In most cases, one is sufficient, but two are better, and here is why: There are different volumes of fluid on each side of the piston inside of a cylinder, this causes different pressures (or ‘force’) to push the fluid through the small orifice (hole) in the restrictor, so the cylinder may move at different speeds while extending and retracting.  Using two, one one each side, can help balance that.
  2. Can I use a restrictor on a Power Beyond (constant flow) circuit, like to slow down my loader or backhoe’s operation?  No, you never want to place a restrictor on the main uncontrolled hydraulic flow of a machine, you can overheat the fluid and cause pump damage. In the case of a loader or backhoe, you’d need to install them after the valve on each circuit.

These .031″ Inline Restrictors have male NPT threads on one side, and female swivel NPT threads on the other so they are easily added to any NPT connection.

Perfect for hydraulic top and side links as well as any other hydraulic cylinder to help slow them down and gain more precise control.

.030″ Flow Restrictor, -06 BSPP to -06 JIC

This fixed .030″ Flow Restrictors are perfect for hydraulic top and side links with “check valves” also known as DPOCV’s (Dual Pilot Operated Check Valves).  The BSPP fitting directly connects to most of the cylinders/valves sold in the USA.
